Board approves water department contract, Duke Energy connection and tax-certificate actions

The Board awarded the Repair/Rebuild of Mechanical Bar Screen contract to B L Anderson of West Chester for the lowest and best bid of $180,902.98, effective upon execution and contingent on release of the required purchase order. The contract term is one year under the contract terms presented to the Board.
Separately, the Board executed a Non-Residential Line Extension Agreement and Readiness Checklist with Duke Energy Ohio, Inc., authorizing installation of a new primary feeder and transformer to serve the new blower building for the Middle East Fork Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements Project, for an amount not to exceed $27,747.29. The county noted that the cost will be payable by the general contractor through the construction contract contingency.
The Board also authorized County Administrator Thomas J. Eigel to execute Tax Certificates confirming that interest on the Newtonsville Area Sewer Collection System and Newtonsville Area Wastewater Treatment Plant Revenue Bonds, Series 2022 (maximum principals $4,218,000 and $4,000,000 respectively) is excluded from gross income for federal and state tax purposes and that the bonds qualify as tax-exempt obligations.
