Friends of Stanwood Parks and Trails donates $2,645.36 for a park bench

At the Feb. 26 meeting Deb Bell, who identified herself as the former president of Friends of Stanwood Parks and Trails (Design Stanwood), told the council the group was dissolving and offered the remainder of its treasury to the city for a park bench.
"I have a check for $2,645.36," Bell said and asked that the group's emblem be embedded in the bench and epoxied over, leaving placement to the city’s discretion. Council and staff thanked Bell and said they would accept the contribution, take a photo and determine an appropriate bench location on city trails or parks.
Councilmembers praised the group's past volunteer work on signage and beautification projects, and one councilmember encouraged other residents to consider similar donations. The city agreed to receive the check and work with Bell to credit the group for the bench.
