Infrastructure Committee urges paving of North Parking Lot as county projects advance

The Cleveland County Infrastructure Committee recommended that the county proceed with the original option to pave the North Parking Lot with asphalt "creating a functional parking area while awaiting future plans," and urged prompt action rather than further delays, Vice‑Chair Douglas Warr reported March 10.
Warr’s report, summarizing a Feb. 27 Infrastructure Committee meeting, also described progress on multiple capital and renovation projects: courthouse generator work is complete pending final engineer sign-off; fairgrounds construction is targeted for completion before the September fair; Election Board renovations are underway on the first and second floors; construction at the new Sheriff’s Office includes dirt work and curbing; Detention Center door hinges are being replaced; HVAC units were installed at 718 Porter and power is being restored; and Courthouse chillers are scheduled for May installation. Warr also said a private developer pursuing a hotel-plus-parking-garage solution is advancing financing and may expand the garage to increase capacity (the project is expected to provide roughly 250–350 spaces, possibly up to 400).
