Adult services: audits, protective-services uptick and ICF bed transfers discussed

Adult Services supervisor Katy Goldschmidt told the board that March saw 13 MnCHOICES initial assessments and reassessments combined, and that care coordinators for UCare, Medica and Blue Plus are preparing for audits—Blue Plus (CMS) audit is scheduled to begin next week, with UCare and Medica audits to follow in May.
Goldschmidt reported a slight increase in Adult Protective Services reports, particularly related to financial exploitation, and described coordination with REM to transfer two ICF beds to Martin County because of a facility closure there. The Madelia ICF currently has four beds of which three are occupied and is expected to close by 2027 due to needed repairs and lease considerations; no Watonwan County residents currently reside in that ICF.
