The Village of Mattawan council voted 5-0 on July 21 to offer the vacant village manager position to candidate Brent Bury, with a starting salary of $110,000 per year, conditional on a satisfactory background check. The special meeting opened at 6:00 PM and included the candidate interview earlier in the session.
The motion to make the offer was moved by Council member Daniel and seconded by Council member Monroe. A roll call vote recorded Begeman, Daniel, McLean, Monroe and Council President Jessalyn Buint Stuut as voting yes; the motion carried 5-0. The council approved the agenda earlier in the meeting and formally excused members Gurley and Streeter; Streeter was excused because of a conflict of interest as a candidate for the same vacant village manager position. The meeting adjourned at 7:10 PM.
