The New Plymouth School District Board proposed keeping the current Salary Schedule A for fiscal year 2027 and allowing earned movement under that schedule, and offered certified staff $60 per month toward health insurance during negotiations on June 16, 2026. The session began at 4:30 p.m. and included trustees, the superintendent, a mediator and members of the negotiation teams.
Board representatives discussed the district's existing compensation framework and identified Schedule A as the baseline the district prefers for FY27 while preserving earned step movement for eligible staff. The offer also included a $60-per-month payment to certified staff to assist with health insurance costs. Both sides recessed into caucus over the course of the meeting — the NPEA caucused at 5:24 p.m., the Board caucused at 6:00 p.m., and both returned from caucus at 6:50 p.m.
The Board framed the proposal as its current offer; the minutes record that the NPEA will take that offer back to its membership for consideration while the Board reviews the union’s proposed language edits. No formal vote was recorded at the meeting. The session adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
