District highlights teacher-led professional development and plans to share resources regionally

Administrators and PD committee members described this year’s professional-development (PD) priorities and a teacher-led model the district is expanding. Major themes include equity mindset, inclusive practices, literacy and numeracy, specialist PLCs and training on specially designed instruction.
Staff explained the district has run a graduate course on purposeful and effective grading, brought in consultant Kelly Mertens for targeted sessions, and plans to continue feedback surveys after each PD event. The district is also exploring cross-district PD days so educators from nearby districts can attend shared workshops. "We have some really solidified PD themes...equity mindset, inclusive practices, literacy for all," one staff presenter said, emphasizing that the work is designed to produce classroom practices teachers can use immediately.
Committee members praised the transparency of PD documentation on the district website and asked staff to continue sharing materials so families and staff can see the scope of training and expected classroom impacts.
