Rockport plans district‑wide SEL screener for grades 3–12, initial funding from grants

District staff told the Rockport School Committee they plan to buy and implement a district SEL screener for students in grades 3–12, funded initially with grants.
"So we'll purchase that screener this year, from grant money and we'll be able to implement that going next year," one presenter said, adding that parents will have the option to opt out. Staff said the screener is intended to feed into a district MTSS framework so SEL data can be combined with academic and behavioral indicators to guide interventions.
Committee members asked whether the screener would be used for all students or only those identified; staff replied that typical implementation starts in grade 3, the student fills out the survey and the data will be exportable into analytics dashboards to help the instructional support team and reporting to the state.
