Maintenance director outlines projects, equipment purchases and bus-route procedures

Maintenance Director Bill Hansen told the board April 27 that the West Desert kitchen remodel is underway with heating and air conditioning installed and an area prepared for washer and dryer; he said he will inspect the progress on April 30. Hansen also reported that materials for the Eureka Elementary roof have been ordered and the replacement project will begin June 1, 2026.

Hansen said the district purchased two dump trailers—one for the West Desert campus to collect trash and another to remain in Eureka for yard debris and hauling the skid steer—and that he and Maintenance Technician Chandler Beckstrom will attend training in May to become certified water handlers and authorized to perform water sampling at the West Desert campus. On transportation, Hansen explained that parents fill out route information at registration or back-to-school night, route changes require state approval, and route maps come from UDOT. He said he is seeking more information about Safe Routes and proposed a bus-safety assembly for students.
