Board awards bid for Tintic High School gym HVAC; district describes broader facility upgrades

The Tintic School District Board unanimously approved a bid from Tod R. Packer Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. for the Tintic High School gym air-conditioning project at its April 27 meeting. Member Jessica Nielsen moved for approval and Vice President Ryan Despain seconded; the motion passed with all members voting "yes."
Maintenance Director Bill Hansen briefed the board on related and ongoing facilities work: demolition of existing gym bleachers will start this week, and if the HVAC bid proceeds the gym will receive new flooring, new bleachers and a mezzanine wall to replace curtains and railing. Hansen also said the Eureka Elementary roof materials have been ordered and the replacement project is scheduled to begin June 1, 2026. Work on the West Desert campus lunchroom kitchen remodel has progressed with HVAC installed and washer/dryer space prepared; Hansen said he will inspect that project on April 30.
Board President Jeana Rowley asked for clarification about specific vendor payments during the work-session review; Superintendent Greg Thornock and maintenance staff answered that R1 Roofing was for roof materials and Jim Coon Construction is the contractor for the West Desert kitchen remodel.
