Town approves floor repairs, 4th‑of‑July coordinator pay and street striping

Huntsville's Town Council approved a package of maintenance and community spending items during its July 17 meeting. Mayor Richard Sorensen reported that when a subcontractor began replacing the wood flooring at the old Town Hall, they discovered the subfloor needed rebuilding; the Council authorized $3,252 to complete the work.
The Council also approved a $5,000 payment to the 4th-of-July events coordinator, and $3,315.95 to Bandit Striping for new street striping on 7400 E. "When the subcontractor went in to replace the wood flooring he discovered that the subfloor was in poor shape and needed to be rebuilt," Mayor Sorensen said while explaining the floor-repair request. Motions on the expenditures were approved by roll call where recorded.
Council members asked staff to retain documentation of bids and invoices and to monitor project completion. The Town will record paid invoices and report back if costs exceed the approved amounts.
