Tintic schools plan College and Career Fair; librarian wins national Book Hero Award

The district announced a College and Career Fair with 17 employers and colleges, introduced new coaches and team captains, and celebrated librarian Rebecca Richardson’s Book Hero Education Award from Operation Literacy.
Crystal Leuk, School Counselor, told the Board she will host a College and Career Fair that will include seventeen different employers and colleges to provide students with information about post‑secondary and employment opportunities; board members were invited to attend. Athletic staff introduced a new Tintic High School baseball head coach, Scott Haney, and multiple teams and captains reported on their seasons and successes.
Elementary teacher Amy Sorensen reported she nominated Librarian Rebecca Richardson for the Book Hero Education Award sponsored by Operation Literacy; Sorensen said Richardson won the award and described Richardson's efforts to promote literacy in the school. The Board also stepped out to the auditorium to hear a student band performance after the reports portion of the meeting.
