The Salem Township Board of Supervisors approved Resolution No. 20‑2024 on Aug. 21 to enter an intergovernmental cooperation agreement with the Franklin Township Municipal Sanitary Authority to install a variable frequency drive (VFD) at the township's Cloverleaf pump station.
Resident Eric Hageder asked what the installation would cost. Supervisors said the project would be covered by a grant for approximately $34,000. During discussion the board and solicitor also addressed whether to add a basket strainer to the installation; the minutes record the matter was discussed but no additional equipment authorization was finalized at the meeting.
The motion passed unanimously. The board recorded that required planning modules and any DEP or township approvals for associated sanitary facilities will follow normal permitting procedures.
