Summary

Mayor Richard Sorensen said the McKay Meadows frontage could be a logical terminus for the Pineview pathway and noted the route would lead users past the David O. McKay house. The suggestion prompted a discussion of whether the newly cleared front area along 100 S. could host a path and where replacement trees should be planted.
Steve Songer said some of the trees removed were river birch planted during the 1976 Bicentennial, while Matthew McKay said he believed the removed trees were elms, cottonwoods and crabapples and that he had received permission to remove the trees. The council asked McKay to bring a plan for replacement plantings to the town tree committee for sign-off. Starks said if a bike path is put in front of the property, the owners would plant trees on their side of the stream and share their plans with the tree committee.
