City proclaims August 2026 as Florida Water Professionals Month

The Winter Haven City Commission issued a proclamation recognizing August 2026 as Florida Water Professionals Month, honoring operators and staff who maintain drinking water, wastewater and stormwater systems. The proclamation, read by staff, cited the Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association's role in operator training and certification.
David Nicholson, wastewater treatment plant manager, accepted the proclamation on behalf of the Winter Haven water department and thanked the commission and staff. "Every drop we conserve today helps protect our lakes, rivers, aquifers, and drinking water supplies for future generations," Nicholson said, urging residents to support responsible stewardship of water resources.
