Council materials describe the Lake Shore Drive water-main replacement as roughly 600 linear feet of new 6-inch PVC main and the addition of one fire hydrant, extending northeast from Michiana Drive. Unlike Creek Drive, NIES Engineering's scope for Lake Shore Drive includes field survey work, preparation of plans and specifications suitable for competitive bidding, EGLE permitting and assistance during the bid process.
The council approved proceeding with NIES subject to attorney review and a $24,000 fee cap that applies to the combined engineering work under the FY24 Community Project Grant. If procurement proceeds on schedule, bids are expected by early September and construction could begin this fall.
