President Tim McCarthy and the Village Council authorized Village Attorney Sarah Senica to draft a formal letter to the owner of a remaining structure on the public beach, citing the applicable ordinance that prohibits placement of that structure.
Attorney Sarah Senica told the Council that "if the homeowner chooses to ignore the letter, the Village can proceed with legal action and take the matter to court." Building Inspector Bill Lambert will assist in documenting the violation and applicable code sections. Council member Brian Cassidy asked whether the Village could place a restriction on the homeowner’s tax bill to block sale until removal; Senica confirmed that could be done.
The motion to authorize the attorney to draft and send the letter carried. The Council did not specify the ordinance citation or a deadline in the minutes; staff were directed to proceed with the letter and follow up as needed.
