County approves temporary emergency hire for Sheriff's Office; committee recognizes Correctional Officers Week

Gary Jackson presented a request to hire a retired employee on a temporary emergency basis to perform a data scrub for the Sheriff’s Office. Jackson stated that the hire would be budget-neutral, covered by unspent salary dollars from current and prior vacancies. The committee approved the motion by Susan Zmyslony, seconded by Sara Buhs.
Sheriff Lake noted May 2–9 is National Correctional Officers Week and thanked correctional staff for their service. Commissioner Zmyslony extended the board’s thanks on behalf of the County Board. No personnel policy changes or ongoing funding commitments were reported at the meeting.
