The Big Horn County Board of County Commissioners voted to adopt Resolution 2026-32 declaring Stage 1 fire restrictions for the county, effective 12:01 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time Friday. Chair moved the resolution and commissioners voted in favor.
Fire Chief Espinosa, who addressed the board during the agenda item, said conditions were dry and hot and that the restriction will "help us out with prescribed burns." He explained that Stage 1 does not ban all fires but limits where and when open burning and campfires are allowed. The board recorded the motion and passed the resolution during the meeting.
