Winhall highway update: French Hollow culvert work, guardrail schedules and retaining wall approval

Highway foreman Trevor Dryden briefed the Select Board Oct. 15 on ongoing road projects. He reported that Hunter Excavating completed the French Hollow culvert replacement work and that guardrail installation was scheduled for Oct. 27; the state will hold a post-construction meeting after the guardrails are in place. On the Stratton Access Road, temporary paving has been completed and guardrail replacement was expected the following week.
Dryden said an intended 3-foot overflow culvert was reviewed and deemed unnecessary by the equipment operator; the contractor agreed to give the town a $10,000 credit for that work. He also reported the State had given final approval for the A.S. Clark retaining wall on South Road. Dryden said he was obtaining a price for a new highway truck under the town’s two-year purchase cycle.
