Select Board authorizes transfer-station Facebook page; discusses mattresses, refrigerants and SWIP postings

Facilities and transfer-station lead Scott Bushee updated the Select Board on several operational issues Oct. 15, including mattress disposal procedures, the handling and training needed for refrigerant-containing appliances, and management of the burn pile. Bushee also reviewed the Solid Waste Implementation Plan (SWIP) requirements and the information that must be posted on the town website.
The board discussed outreach and authorized creation of an "outgoing information only" Facebook page for the Transfer Station and Highway Departments to post schedules and disposal guidance. Julie Isaacs moved to authorize the page; Stacy Eddy-Gordon seconded. Yes votes were William Schwartz, Julie Isaacs and Stacy Eddy-Gordon; Elizabeth Grant and Stuart Coleman abstained. The motion passed.
