Winhall to apply for $30,000 planning grant to update zoning and flood-hazard rules

The Winhall Select Board voted Oct. 15 to apply for a Planning Grant with a maximum award of $30,000 to update the town’s zoning, subdivision and flood-hazard regulations. Lucia Wing and Jeff Yates of the Planning Commission presented the proposal and asked the board to authorize the application, naming Town Administrator Lissa Stark as the grant administrator.
"We recommend contracting with the Windham Regional Commission to complete the update," the Planning Commission members said during the presentation. The board approved the motion to apply, moved by Julie Isaacs and seconded by Elizabeth Grant, by a unanimous vote. If awarded, the grant would fund staff and consultant work to bring local ordinances in line with current state and regional practices.
