At the end of the July 28 meeting the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors moved into closed session under Government Code section 54956.8 to grant authority to negotiators on proposed lease terms for several properties in Arcata, Eureka, Ferndale, Fortuna and Garberville that involve veteran organizations.
County counsel identified the properties by address and assessor parcel number and named Tom Mattson, Humboldt County Public Works Director, and his designees as the county's negotiators. Counsel listed possible counterparties as American Legion posts and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts. An online caller urged the board to "honor them with good terms, good conditions" and to include maintenance in negotiations.
After the closed session, counsel reported there was no reportable action taken on the item. The board adjourned and expected to reconvene on August 11.
