Tree Board updates ordinance and pursues utility-line burial design; removal estimates sought for a failing elm

Nancy Thill told the council the Tree Ordinance was updated to require that tree services be registered and licensed and obtain a no-cost permit from the office; the permit is intended to support the village tree inventory and public safety. Thill said the Tree Board is obtaining estimates to remove a failing multi-trunk Siberian elm at Stop 42 after inspecting and treating the tree for vines and noted ongoing invasive-species treatment work.
Thill also said AEP had completed about half of a first-draft design for burying utility lines in two village sections (a western section and an adjacent eastern section) and expects to provide a plan and proposal soon. A temporary fence will protect the musical-garden corner while the Garden Club restores the area with native plants.
