Commissioners seek cooperating-agency status with USFS and permit social-media project notices

Mitch Iverson, chairman of the Natural Resources Committee, presented a draft Cooperating Agency Memorandum of Understanding between Lawrence County and the USDA Forest Service (Black Hills National Forest, Northern Hills Ranger District). The board approved forwarding a formal request seeking cooperating-agency status, subject to Forest Service supervisor approval. Bruce Outka, Deputy State’s Attorney, will be listed as the Administrative Program Contact and Iverson as the Cooperator Contact.
Iverson also requested permission for the county to post USFS project notifications on the county Facebook page; the board had no objection and authorized the notifications. The actions were approved by motion and recorded in the minutes.
