First reading held on amended open-burning ordinance; grant report approved

Paul Thomson, Emergency Management Director, presented the amended Ordinance #2025-01, which provides for regulation of open burning in Lawrence County. The commission held the first reading on April 14, 2026; the second reading and adoption were scheduled for April 28, 2026.
Thomson also presented the Local Emergency Management Performance Grant quarterly report and the board authorized the chairman to sign the report. The minutes show the grant report authorization (moved Ewing; second Tysdal) occurred during general business the same day.
