Selectboard authorizes RFP for winter plowing after Lancaster exits; approves Treasurer device purchase and addresses local complaints

After Lancaster Plowing notified it could no longer service the town, the Selectboard authorized an immediate RFP for winter plowing, approved a Treasurer laptop/desktop purchase, appointed liaisons, and directed responses on a Beaver Street lawn complaint and debris at 26 Stonehouse Road.
The Selectboard concluded that Lancaster Plowing will no longer service the town and authorized issuing an RFP immediately for winter plowing of the Town Hall, Library, Fire Station, Community Center and Police facilities; the motion was made by Stuart Coleman and passed unanimously. The board asked the RFP to encourage responses from more companies and agreed to circulate interested parties' contact information.
The Town Treasurer requested upgraded devices; Elizabeth Grant moved to purchase a new laptop and a new computer if the existing machine cannot be repaired by E-enable, a motion seconded by Julie Isaacs that passed unanimously.
On liaison and correspondence matters the board appointed Grant & Eddy-Gordon as police liaisons; Julie Isaacs as facilities liaison for Scott Bushee; Stuart Coleman as highway liaison for Trevor Dryden; and Bill Schwartz as STR liaison for Christie Boswell and liaison for the Town Administrator. Chair Coleman asked the Town Administrator to send a letter to Consolidated Communications regarding three vehicle accidents involving low-hanging overhead lines in town. The board also directed Grant to respond to a Beaver Street complaint from Kevin Kresene explaining the town ordinance does not require the town to maintain private lawns; Coleman will contact Adrian Owles about debris at 26 Stonehouse Road.
Meeting administrative items concluded with plans for employee evaluations in executive session and a request from Grant for a review of employee health insurance and extended liability coverage through VLCT.
