Chris, a member of the athletics team, explained training and credential requirements: "So all coaches are required to have a coaching permit, whether they're paid or volunteer. The State Department of Education does not differentiate between a paid or volunteer coaches." The handbook also adds district mental‑health training for coaches and codifies CIAC expectations; coaches are mandatory reporters and must meet heat‑safety and concussion modules.
Board members asked about recruitment sections, captain leadership standards and rollout timing. Staff said the coaches' handbook will be finalized in the coming week and the district will collect written board feedback for rapid finalization before the fall season.
