Board notes addition of 10 sheriff positions authorized in budget; cautions about hiring challenges

Chair Ron A. Smith emphasized the importance of the Major Crimes detective positions to investigation and prevention efforts. Commissioners acknowledged the county may face difficulty filling all eight new patrol positions because of a limited pool of qualified applicants and the training required for newly hired deputies. No additional formal action was required because the positions had already been authorized through the budget process.
