Board directs scheduling of first and second readings for Ordinance 2026-002

Tami Smith of Community Development reviewed the remaining procedural steps for BCC Ordinance 2026-002, which would amend the Comprehensive Plan designation from Farm to Residential and change the zoning from Farm Resource to Rural Residential Five-Acre. Smith said the underlying land-use request had been approved on April 8, 2026 and that staff needed to confirm whether an appeal had been filed and provide the required newspaper notice before holding readings.
Commissioners discussed the elapsed time since the land-use approval and asked staff to schedule the ordinance readings promptly. The Board directed staff to set a first reading for August 19, 2026 and a second reading for September 2, 2026, after the 21-day appeal period has closed. No formal motion was recorded.
