Board approves $86,499.95 change order to finish Whitehorse Park roadway

Tamra Martin, Recreation Director, told the Board that after removal of accumulated material and review of connections between new sites and the existing road, staff concluded an overlay of the entire roadway was necessary to improve the finished appearance and extend the useful life of the improvements. "The overall renovation remained under budget," Martin said, and the extra work will be funded from the Parks Capital Fund and the project's Land and Water Conservation Fund grant.
Commissioner Colene M. Martin moved to approve signing authority for the Whitehorse Park — Aegis Asphalt construction change order in the amount of $86,499.95; Commissioner Ron A. Smith seconded the motion. Upon roll call, Commissioner Richardson was absent; Commissioners Martin and Smith voted yes and the motion carried 2-0. The completed upper area is expected to include ten additional RV sites and five campsites, and the design preserves mature trees and the park's shaded character.
The Board's approval authorizes Recreation Director Tamra Martin to execute the change order with Aegis Asphalt. No additional budget appropriation was required because staff completed a significant portion of the renovation in-house and the project remains under budget.
