City staff described a conceptual commercial development for a roughly 9.174-acre site at the Northeast corner of Center Point Road and Interstate 20 frontage road that would include space for large grocery stores, several restaurants and retail outlets. The planning and zoning commission unanimously recommended approval of the rezoning and recommended the preliminary plat with seven conditions.
Council opened the required public hearing, heard no public speakers, and then approved the rezoning and the preliminary plat with the seven planning-commission conditions. Staff noted the plat follows the recent voluntary annexation of adjacent land and the rezoning action just taken to support the proposed commercial development.
