The Planning and Zoning Commission on Oct. 9 approved a combined zoning map amendment and general plan amendment for a 5.001‑acre tract along Holland Lake Drive to accommodate a proposed Weatherford Chamber of Commerce facility.
City staff described the request as a change from Agriculture to C‑1 (general commercial) and from Urban Living to Community Commercial on the city's general plan. Conceptual renderings show an approximately 18,000‑square‑foot building planned for use as offices, a visitor center and meeting space for the Chamber. Staff recommended approval; no members of the public spoke at the hearing, and the commission approved the request unanimously.
The commission also approved a related final plat (item 3e) for the same tract during the meeting. The matter will be forwarded to City Council for further consideration consistent with city procedures.
