He said the bill would require petitions to be given to the county auditor for scheduling and would clearly state that if a county commission votes 'no' on an initiated measure, there is no referral.
Muller also said the legislation—approved by the Senate and recommended by the House at the time of his report—would require a 10‑day certified mail notice to any township affected by a conditional use or appeal request, including variances. “It does specifically say auditor of the county,” Muller said, noting the county already performs many of the notification steps the bill would codify. Staff indicated they will verify legislative language and report back.
