The Commissioners Court voted Sept. 8 to set the proposed FY2026 tax rate at the no-new-revenue level and to begin the public-notice process. County staff member Brianna presented the required notice documents and explained the schedule: publish the proposed rate, hold a public hearing on Sept. 17 and adopt the final rate at the budget adoption proceedings on Sept. 22.
Commissioner Walden moved to set the rates as follows: maintenance and operations 0.178562; interest and sinking 0.056460; lateral road and bridge 0.050048 for a total of 0.285070. Commissioner Colling seconded, and the motion carried 5-0. Brianna said the vote establishes the ceiling for the proposed rate and that each member's vote will be published along with the notice.
