Commissioners award Kelly Road construction contract to Prater Dirtwork at $3,000,001.65

The Commissioners Court on Sept. 8 approved awarding the main construction contract for Kelly Road to Prater Dirtwork, the low bidder, at $3,000,001.65 and also approved a construction-management, inspection and testing contract for the same project.
Chris Bosco explained the county upgraded the Kelly Road scope from asphalt to concrete because of increased truck traffic and nearby development and noted coordination with TxDOT on a signal at State Highway 377. "We upgraded it to a concrete road," Bosco said, describing the change and noting the county is pursuing a funding partnership with a developer to add a signal. The project drew interest from seven bidders, and staff reported they had checked references for Prater Dirtwork before recommending award.
The court moved and approved both the construction award and the construction-management contract by unanimous vote.
