The Parker County Commissioners Court on Sept. 8 proclaimed September 2025 as National Recovery Month, urging residents to support people in recovery and to use community resources.
Ashley Gainey, identifying herself as representing Unity Recovery in Weatherford, told the court the group is “pushing to have mental health and substance use access to services for everybody in our county,” and announced a free community day for residents this Saturday where local partners will provide resources. The court read a resolution noting more than 22 million Americans are in recovery and emphasizing the county’s interest in evidence-based treatment and community support.
The proclamation drew brief thanks from commissioners and an invitation for Unity Recovery and partners to be photographed with the court after the reading. No formal funding action was taken during the proclamation.
