County accepts FAA grant contingencies, awards Runway REILs and T‑Hangar contracts at April meeting

The Legislature accepted terms for an anticipated FAA Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) to fund Runway 1‑19 REILs replacement and approved contingent awards for the runway project to Baseline King Corp. (total contract not to exceed $96,250) and for T‑hangar and taxilane construction to Chrisanntha Construction Corp. (low bid $2,106,858.79), contingent on NYSDOT and FAA approvals. The resolutions note FAA anticipated funding ($171,237 at 95% FAA share for the REILs replacement) and a $4,506 county share for that project.
Bids for the T‑hangar electrical work were awarded to Kaplan Schmidt Electric, Inc. (total not to exceed $232,000), and the county's project consultant C&S Associates recommended acceptance of the low bids, subject to grant and permitting approvals. Ms. Purdy, addressing concerns that had arisen in an earlier bid review, said there "had been a couple of concerns raised in regard to some specific items within the bid and those have been worked out satisfactorily." The Legislature's actions authorize the Chair, after County Attorney review and necessary grant offers, to execute contracts and related documents with the successful bidders.
