IDA updates: Park Grove housing waits on DEC wetlands review; LP expansion and workforce outreach underway

James Johnson, Executive Director of the Steuben County Industrial Development Agency, updated the committee on several economic development projects. He said the Park Grove housing project is moving forward but is awaiting engineering reports tied to DEC wetlands reviews. Johnson also reported that LP is considering a 40,000-square-foot expansion that would double production space and that Gunlocke held a day-long CSS Workforce services fair attended by 84 of 130 employees; Gunlocke plans an onsite job fair in early May.
Johnson added that the Curtiss School roof has been replaced and construction should begin soon; he said the IDA is preparing its annual report for the State and will return with a status update on all 62 projects in April or May. Regarding the Philips site, Johnson said DEC requested additional work and that full remediation might not be completed until 2028, though an interim site management plan is in place and some land could be developed sooner depending on DEC findings.
