Steuben County staff asked the PIP committee to authorize a request for proposals for engineering/architectural (ENA) services to renovate restrooms in the county office building that date to the mid-1980s, saying the work will be more than a simple repair because bringing the spaces up to current standards triggers broader code work.
"They're original to the building — '84, '85 — and they're in need of some upgrades," a staff member filling in for Buildings & Grounds told the committee, adding that once staff has a design it can be replicated across floors. The presenter said a capital project fund has been built over several years to cover the work.
Committee members asked procedural questions before a motion to authorize the RFP was made, seconded and carried. The committee did not set a construction schedule when authorizing design services; staff said the vote authorizes procurement of ENA services so design and cost estimates can be prepared.
