Board directs staff to negotiate MOU with nonprofit for volunteer Gros Ventre fire station

Fire/EMS Chief Mike Moyer and representatives of The Friends of the Gros Ventre Fire Station presented a feasibility workshop March 9 on constructing Station 8 in the North Gros Ventre area. Presenters Jim Ramo and Rocky Barber outlined the nonprofit-led construction proposal and noted Joe Wenger participated via Zoom. Chief Moyer and Deputy Chief Brian Coe described a potential partnership in which Jackson Hole Fire/EMS would operate the station as a volunteer facility.
Commissioners discussed the proposal with staff and project representatives. Commissioner Luther Propst moved and Commissioner Wes Gardner seconded to direct staff to negotiate a Memorandum of Understanding with the Friends of the Gros Ventre Fire Station, but Chief Deputy County Attorney Keith Gingery stated direction to staff was clear and a motion was not necessary; Propst withdrew the motion. The board recorded direction to staff to proceed with MOU negotiations; no formal vote on an agreement occurred at the meeting.
