Recreation staff report steady participation; Newtown tennis ribbon-cutting set for Friday
Summary
City recreation staff reported consistent participation at Park Place (over 1,000 attendees in December), previewed Lunar New Year at Heisman Field (Feb. 1) and a Newtown Tennis Courts ribbon-cutting, and updated the committee on ongoing projects including the Chattahoochee Greenway and sign-standard installations.

Recreation staff reported that Park Place participation remained steady in December with enrollment numbers above 1,000 and several successful holiday programs. Staff highlighted recent activities — an all-arts holiday exhibit, a CPR/AED lunch-and-learn, a holiday sing-along, and a Holly Jolly block party — and said Lunar New Year programming will be held Feb. 1 at Heisman Field across from the Atlanta Athletic Club.
Staff also updated RPAC on project work: the city is continuing coordination with the National Park Service on the Chattahoochee Greenway, moving the maker space toward a design-build approach, and installing new sign standards at OC Park. Staff invited committee members to the Newtown Tennis Courts ribbon-cutting on Friday at 1 p.m. "Park Place doesn't really slow down even at the holidays — their numbers are really steady, with participation over 1,000 people," staff said during the update.
