Tekoa council members discussed a proposed Harassment Ordinance (No. 914) but did not adopt it on June 15. Code Enforcement Officer Mike Bogenreif explained that many local ordinances date from when Tekoa maintained its own police department and said he would consult a judge to determine what will be accepted for harassment violations and report back to the council.
Councilmember Shelly Ausmus raised questions and asked Adam Matthews about existing ordinance language; Matthews said the ordinances in place reflect the period when Tekoa had its own police department. The council deferred the ordinance for now and intends to revisit it after receiving the judge's guidance, per the minutes.
