Pedestrian link, court renovations and overflow parking highlighted for Newtown and Colley Creek parks

Erica reported a recent groundbreaking for a pedestrian connection under State Route 141 that will link Town Center Park and Creekside, calling the project a major step for the town center network. She also said Newtown Park’s tennis-court renovation is nearing completion and the park’s new pickleball courts are already in use.
When asked about Colley Creek overflow parking placement, Erica described the lot as aligned along the access road near the courts and Maker Space building and noted that the gate to Bell Road is intended to remain closed except for very large events. "It'll mostly be aligned along the road towards the Maker Space," Erica said, describing the circulation pattern for entry and exit. She added the overall park plan includes additional parking capacity planned for future phases and that the Colley Creek overflow lot will be advanced to the city council in the January work session for direction.
Committee members raised concerns about low-lying areas and sightlines for ingress/egress; staff said they will refine design details and share images. Volunteer and event staffing logistics were also discussed, with Lunar New Year volunteers being recruited and the committee asked to help with outreach.
