Spring Creek mobile-home owner tells county residents are being backbilled after lot-rent changes

At a public-comment period, Audrey Cummings, an independent contractor and owner of 14 rental units in the Sage Hills mobile home parks on Bullion Road, told commissioners residents are facing sudden lot-rent changes and backbilling from a third-party billing company.
Cummings said the parks have three master water meters and that the billing company provides only a single meter reading; park management then estimates household usage and residents have been backbilled for June and July with more months pending. "We are now being backbilled for the months of June and July," she said, and described situations where long-term residents on Social Security could no longer afford to remain.
Commissioners and county staff said they could not provide legal advice and suggested contacting law enforcement or Nevada Legal Services if criminal conduct is suspected; the county manager offered to connect Cummings with state resources. The chair and the district attorney's representative said the county's jurisdiction is limited but that the city and county staff could discuss options and provide contact information for legal assistance.
Audrey's remarks prompted advice from the dais about reporting possible unlawful activity to law enforcement and referral to legal aid for civil matters. Commissioners did not take formal action during the meeting on this matter.
