Council previews major engineering projects: pavement preservation, Gibson Ave sidewalk and Mill & Main intersection

Public Works and Engineering staff outlined several capital projects included in the AMP and the 2025 plan. Tyler Christophe said departments coordinated an asphalt/preservation effort that aggregates scopes to attract bidders and minimize remobilization, with an estimated combined cost of about $3,500,000. The package includes striping and more durable materials for bike lanes and other durable improvements.
Tyler also presented a Gibson Ave sidewalk project to improve pedestrian safety and drainage, noting the city expects some stormwater contributions for construction and that the narrow right-of-way has been assessed and can accommodate minimum pedestrian corridor widths. The Mill & Main intersection was recommended to move from asphalt to concrete for durability; staff reported preliminary discussions with CDOT and a potential $675,000 contribution, though CDOT funding may shift. Cemetery Lane multimodal safety improvements were also proposed to fix sight-line issues, add bus facilities and a WeCycle station to improve last-mile connectivity.
