Economic Alliance outlines $5 billion pipeline, cites $20 billion in 2026 project wins

He highlighted two recent project announcements: an NRG 455-megawatt natural gas generation facility (reported cost $617,000,000) and a joint-venture pipeline and processing project with Marathon and 1 Oak from Mont Belvieu to Texas City.
Board members asked for detail on expected traffic and infrastructure impacts tied to Port of Houston growth. Burke said the Alliance is engaging on transportation priorities and on federal and state policy, and emphasized the region's role in manufacturing supply chains that both import and export goods. He also outlined workforce efforts — noting outreach to roughly 60,000 students over the last decade — and Alliance grant and local quality-of-life programs that include $5,000 matching grants for cities.
The presentation provided data on capital investment and local tax impacts — Burke said the Alliance’s work produced more than $10,000,000 annually in net city tax receipts to La Porte from projects they’ve supported — and closed with an invitation for board members to raise questions about specific projects or policy asks.
