Council confirms six nominees to Commission on Human Rights in unanimous vote

The Council of the District of Columbia approved six confirmation resolutions en bloc to fill seats on the Commission on Human Rights.
Chair Phil Mendelson read the six measures and asked Councilmember Nadeau to present them in block; Nadeau moved the block and described each nominee's background. "PR26-264 appoints Mr. Sim Singh Buttarawala to the Commission on Human Rights," Nadeau said, noting his role as director of the Anti-Hate Program at Asian Americans Advancing Justice. The block also included appointments for Alexis Gardner, Carmen Moreno Sanz, Sean Norman, Jasmine Lee Scott and Isabelle Vladeau.
The General Counsel confirmed the measures were legally and technically sufficient and the Secretary confirmed the record was complete. Because these were confirmations, the Budget Director said there was no fiscal impact. The Council voted on the block and approved the six confirmations by unanimous voice vote. With the vote complete, the chair moved to the next items on the agenda.
