Mayor Roy Schulz clarified his education budget is $700 and noted he had used much of it on conferences; he said he has over $250 remaining. CM Dan Thomas moved to increase the mayor's education budget by $400; CM Mike Hale seconded and asked for a roll-call vote. The motion failed: CM Shelly Ausmus, CM Dave Tysz and CM Margie Jaeger voted no; CM Dan Thomas, CM Reid Smith and CM Mike Hale voted yes; CM Pete Martin voted no.
Council discussion included whether mayoral conferences constituted essential city business and whether the mayor should consider his $400 monthly stipend in determining conference attendance. No increase was adopted and the mayor's budget remains at $700.
