Census demo identifies Butte County tracts with high social vulnerability
Summary
Using MCE, Census staff identified top census tracts in Butte County with 3+ social vulnerability components and highlighted tract-level indicators: Tract 32 (≈51.4% with 3+ components), Tract 24.02 and Tract 21 (≈39–40% 3+ components; 33.5% disability in Tract 21).
In a second scenario, Meredith Maxwell used the My Community Explorer map to find the three census tracts in Butte County with the highest rates of residents having three or more CRE social vulnerability components. She selected tract-level views and reviewed CRE and ACS pages for each tract.
Maxwell identified Census Tract 32 as having about 51.43% of residents with three or more vulnerability components (and the highest poverty percentage), Census Tract 24.02 as close behind on poverty measures, and Census Tract 21 with nearly 40% of residents with 3+ components and the highest percentage of residents with a disability (about 33.5%). She noted that map color-coding represents the predominant vulnerability category and that a tract may still have a large 3+ population even if another category predominates on the legend.
